“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” — Arthur Ashe

This quote deeply resonates with me—not just as a therapist, but as a person. Life doesn’t require perfection, only the courage to take the next small step. Healing begins right where you are, even if that place feels messy, overwhelming, or unclear.

My name is Teresa Barnes, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) in North Carolina. I work with adults, teens, and children who are navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, emotional dysregulation, and relationship challenges. I have experience supporting clients through individual and group counseling, and I’ve also worked as a school social worker—giving me insight into the complex stressors young people and families face today. While I continue to support children and adolescents, my practice has expanded to focus on helping adults build resilience, process trauma, and move forward with greater clarity and self-worth.

I have a special interest in working with individuals managing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, low self-esteem, communication difficulties, anger, personal growth, workplace or academic pressure, emotional dysregulation, and coping skills.

In therapy, I use a person-centered approach alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients explore patterns of thought and behavior in a compassionate, collaborative space. This blend allows us to honor your lived experience while gently working toward change and healing. My style is warm, flexible, and nonjudgmental—centered on helping you feel heard, empowered, and supported every step of the way.

I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to meet you where you are—physically and emotionally. I welcome clients of all backgrounds and identities and strive to create an inclusive, affirming space for healing and growth.

Let’s connect and begin this journey together.
